REVIEW:
Anby
Apex 1/7 scale figure
I’m what you’d call a “Day 1 Hollow Investigator.” Haven’t missed a day since; Zenless Zone Zero kinda slaps. The game is simply a better (to me) Honkai Impact 3rd. Aesthetically, gameplay, story—the game appeals to me.
I am the target audience.
Anby was the first character I really took to back in v1.0. Her playstyle, while basic, was oodles of fun (still is). Her design? Straight fire. This movie-lovin’, burger-eatin’, on the spectrum swordmaster has always been a favorite of mine.
In the good year of our Lord Phaethon 2025, we now have a physical, tangible Anby. Wow! Thanks, Apex!
Also in 2025: Anby… don’t really cut it no more. she poopy garbo. sad face. Recent Stun type characters have so much more utility in their kits. When stunners like Lighter or Pulchra can fill the Stun role and also provide team-wide buffs or be the team’s catalyst for Aftershock, the older stunners such as Koleda or my girl Anby (see build below) just can’t compete.
I do still run Anby occasionally, mostly via my mono-electric team (Anby, Rina, Nagi) and she still performs OK. Just OK, but that’s well… OK. My Anby build is pretty good, could be better. I maxed that girl out a year ago and haven’t changed anything since. Dinosaur.
Apex Toys has been working on cranking out all of the members of The Cunning Hares as 1/7 scale figures. Anby is the first one to be released and the only member I preordered. I won’t be picking up the rest. Not because Anby is a bad figure or anything, I just don’t care about the rest of them like that.

Box & Packaging
A box with no plastic window. Schrödinger’s waifu.
Even without a view of what Apex has blessed you with, the box is pretty neat-o. It’s edgy and stylistic. The overall design fits the vibes of Zenless Zone Zero and the color palate has that moxie. Apex has always had decent box designs. I can’t say I’m surprised.
Inside the box is your typical plastic clamshell. I forgot to take a picture of the figure as I opened it, so here’s a photo of Anby set back into her plastic prison. When new, Anby had some protective coverings over her scabbard and hand, as well as some small foam blocks set within the gaps of her sculpt.
While this is the first scale figure I’ve purchased from Apex, this ain’t my first rodeo with the company. The effort and care put into their figures’ packaging is nothing new. Glad to see they care about my toys arriving unharmed.

Base
Anby’s base is shaped like a big ole Master Tape. The clear portion separates with ease; that thing ain’t secured to the tape reel at all. You can freely spin the clear disc in the tape, allowing you to put forward whichever face of the tape you like best. Or take Anby off the tape entirely and put her on display with just the clear disc. Options!
Anby stands securely on the metal posts sticking out of the clear disc. No wobble, perfect fitting. She feels sturdy and level. Those metal posts are in there real good! Too good, actually…
I immediately noticed these small cracks in the base while I was unboxing this figure. It looks like the metal posts for Anby’s foot holes cracked the base oh-so-slightly. Big bummer and a little concerning to be honest. I hope it doesn’t get worse over time.

Sculpt
Most of these photos will speak for themselves. The sculpt is quite impressive, even if her butt cheeks don’t touch. Freak.
Made out of both PVC and ABS, Anby has some great movement sculpted into her. Thankfully her straps, belts, strings, etc. are all flexible rather than brittle. They should hold up well over time.
Apex’s attention to detail cannot be ignored. From the intricate screws and switches on her backpack to the slight bulging of her thighs: Anby looks like a million bucks.
Maybe not a full million, but she looks how you’d expect given her MSRP (roughly $140 USD). It’s a quality sculpt.

Paint
Anby’s face printing came out swell. Her eyes are sharp, distinct, and spaced properly. There’s no confusing her for anyone else.
Fantastic paint and tampos. Anby’s generator is my favorite part of this figure. I’d love to see the reference sheets Apex used.
The tampos are all applied with precision. There are some sharp lil decals adorning this electric geek’s weaponry. The copper pipe jutting out of Anby’s electro scabbard looks so realistic, too. Where there are sloppy bits of paint (and there are), these precise tampo applications more than make up for them.
There is noticeable slop in some spots, like where the gloves aren’t fully colored in black up to their sculpt lines. Or the red button on the side of Anby’s backpack that didn’t get the most precise coverage. The button is fine and very easy to clean up myself (I just shouldn’t have to). The gloves on the other hand? Oof. They look a little dookie up close.
Only a few areas on this figure where the paint doesn’t meet standard. Overall, she has a very high quality fit and finish. I don’t consider these small defects to be dealbreakers.

Overall
Apex’s 1/7 scale Anby is the 2nd scale figure I’ve ever bought. The first one being Rosuuri’s White Rabbit figure last year. I own a lot of prize figures, noodle stoppers, articulated girlies, but scale figures are not my typical fare. I do have Apex’s Corin on preorder however, so this collection will grow larger soon.
I’d be lying if I said I many points of reference to use when reviewing scale figures but uhh, I don’t, so keep that in mind here.
This figure, Lord Phaethon bless you Apex, is good…enough. It’s a good figure! It could just be better. I doubt we’ll see a better Anby figure for a long while.
It’s highly detailed! Yeah! It’s painted well! Yay! The likeness is on point! Yippee! The small paint issues I can ignore, they’re not that bad. But I find Anby’s pose quite static and a little bland. Man, I just wish her sword was actually, like, out of the scabbard and ready to swing!
I’m also a little peeved about the tiny cracks in the base. I wonder if this is a common issue with this figure or if I just got shafted. I’ll try to not let it bother me.
Seriously, tho. Let us see the real sword. The scabbard looks pretty good and has some green airbrushed shading applied to it to make it “glow.” The glow effect translate much better in person than it does in a photo. But screw that, let me see the sword! I love the sword. I want the sword. It’s so small and sharp and utilitarian.
I love this stupid mall ninja sword!
The mentioned glow effect.
Apex took a stab at Anby and they did a decent job. While this may not be the apex of anime figures, she’s good enough and feels worth the price. I recommend adding 1 (one) Anby to your collection.
I am not affiliated with any websites or stores, and this is not an advertisement, but I bought mine from amiami. Preorded this sucker the day that item page went live last year. I even got a cute acrylic doohookie to display alongside IRL Anby. I don’t even know what to call it or what its true purpose is. A charm of some sort.
Anyway, buy the figure if you like Anby. Or don’t. Only you can control your life.
